Singapore is the third largest foreign exchange centre by turnover and the place where Asian institutional flow, family offices and a dense retail base sit in the same time zone. That combination is why firms keep asking for a platform configured to a Singapore trading day rather than a European one.
The readers this page is written for are the ones building something: a brokerage aimed at Southeast Asian retail clients, or a proprietary trading firm running evaluations out of a Singapore holding company. SINGUARD provides the technology for both. Licensing, banking and legal structure are yours.
The regulatory backdrop
The Monetary Authority of Singapore is both the central bank and the financial regulator, which is unusual and changes the tone of the process. Dealing in capital markets products, including leveraged foreign exchange, is a regulated activity that requires a capital markets services licence unless an exemption applies, and firms dealing with retail clients carry heavier conduct and disclosure duties than those restricted to accredited or institutional investors. Where your firm lands on that line is a question for your Singapore counsel, and it changes what your client portal has to collect and display. Our background reading on regulated and unregulated brokers, broker KYC and AML for trading firms covers the mechanisms without pretending to be advice.
MAS also takes a documented interest in technology risk and outsourcing. A firm that outsources its trading platform is expected to know who runs it, where the data sits and what happens when it breaks. We answer those questions in writing during onboarding, which is a fair test of any vendor. Our note on data residency rules explains why the question is asked.
What SINGUARD supplies
eTrader is the trading platform, web plus native iOS and Android, with its own market data feed included. The Broker CRM is the back office and client portal: onboarding, KYC status, deposits and withdrawals, per-server instruments, spreads and markups, risk tiers and the reports your compliance function asks for. The Prop Firm CRM covers the evaluation model end to end, from challenge rules to breach detection to payout approval.
Everything is fully managed. We host, patch, monitor the feed and support your desk. Once your firm's licensing and paperwork are in place, you are live within 24 hours. Nobody on your side has to hire a platform engineer, and there is no MetaTrader dependency to explain to your board. If you are weighing that decision, read choosing a trading platform and starting a brokerage without a tech team.
SINGUARD has no Singapore office, entity, licence or local staff, and never holds client funds. We are a software company. Your firm holds the licence, the accounts and the responsibility.
Payments and banking realities
Singapore has excellent domestic rails and a difficult onboarding culture for anything that smells like leveraged retail trading. Local instant transfers and PayNow work well for Singapore dollar deposits from Singapore residents. The problem is the rest of the client base. A firm taking clients across Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines is dealing with several currencies, local wallet habits and card approval rates that vary sharply by issuing country, which is why regional brokers run a mix of local processors rather than one global one. Our articles on payout rails, card approval rates and multi-currency accounts go through the trade-offs.
Whatever mix you sign, the CRM treats each method as a configured rail with its own approval queue, limits and reconciliation. Money moves between your clients and your own providers, never through us.
Clients, languages and the trading day
| Local reality | How it shows up in the software |
|---|---|
| SGT, eight hours ahead of London | Daily cut-offs, statements and reports set to your trading day, not a European default |
| Asian session opens the week | Feed and charts built for the Sydney and Tokyo hours, see our Asian session guide |
| English plus regional languages | Client portal, emails and support content per client language |
| Multi-country client base | Per-server instrument sets, markups, leverage tiers and payment methods |
Support staffing usually runs an Asian day shift with a light European handover. That shape works because the platform is the same product for every client, and only the configuration differs.
How firms here usually structure themselves
A common pattern is a Singapore company as the holding and commercial centre, with the regulated dealing entity sitting wherever the firm's counsel puts it, and technology bought as a service. Firms comparing Asian hubs almost always look at Hong Kong alongside Singapore, and firms with a European client base look at Malta. Everything we cover is listed on the locations page.
SINGUARD's Executive Directors, Alex Onta & Roman Onta, run these conversations. Alex Onta built eTrader, with Roman Onta on the design, and the two built the Broker CRM and the Prop Firm CRM together. Book a call or text us and we will open the live demo on the first call.
Where SINGUARD is based, and where we meet firms in Singapore
All of the software, the contracts and the policies come from SGHK Softwares Limited in Hong Kong, the holding company that builds and licenses eTrader and both CRMs. The team works out of Dubai, where both Executive Directors, Alex Onta and Roman Onta, live for most of the year, and our licensed UAE entity is SINGUARD GLOBAL FZC in Ajman Free Zone. We hold no office or licence in Singapore, and none is needed: the platform is delivered and managed from our own clustered servers, so a firm in Singapore runs exactly what a firm anywhere else runs, and your licence, your client money and your compliance obligations stay entirely with your own entity.
Being in Dubai keeps the team on the industry circuit and within easy reach of Singapore for calls and meetings, in a time zone that overlaps most of the trading world.
In person, the place to find us is the industry circuit. The team attends Forex Expo Dubai and the other major shows, wearing the SINGUARD and eTrader shirts, and you can walk up without an appointment, ask for a live demo of the terminal and both CRMs, and talk to the Executive Directors directly in English, Italian, Romanian or Russian. See where to find us at the expo.
