Hong Kong keeps a currency pegged to the US dollar, a common law legal system and a regulator that publishes its licensing conditions in plain English and Chinese. For a firm selling leveraged products to Asian clients, that mix is still hard to replicate anywhere else in the region.
Two readers land on this page. One is opening a brokerage from Hong Kong and needs the platform, the client portal and the back office. The other is running a prop firm with a Hong Kong company and needs evaluations, breach detection and payouts that hold up when a trader disputes a result. SINGUARD builds the software for both. The licence, the bank account and the legal advice come from elsewhere.
The regulatory backdrop
The Securities and Futures Commission licenses regulated activities by type. Dealing in securities is Type 1, leveraged foreign exchange trading is Type 3, and asset management is Type 9, and a firm applies for the types that match what it actually intends to do. Each type carries its own competence, capital and conduct requirements, and the SFC also approves the responsible officers who supervise the business. That structure has a direct effect on software: what your onboarding flow must ask, what risk disclosures a client has to see before an account opens, what your firm has to be able to reconstruct months later when a complaint arrives. We describe the general mechanisms in broker KYC and compliance, AML basics for trading firms and client fund segregation. None of it is advice, and your Hong Kong counsel decides the actual perimeter.
The other thing worth saying plainly: a Hong Kong company is not the same as a Hong Kong licence, and a firm that markets leveraged products to the public without the right SFC licence type is taking a risk no software vendor can absorb. Our explainer on regulated and unregulated brokers spells out the distinction.
What SINGUARD provides
eTrader is the trading platform, on web, iOS and Android, with the market data feed included rather than sourced separately. The Broker CRM is the back office and client portal: onboarding and KYC status, deposits and withdrawals, per-server instruments, spreads, markups and risk tiers, plus the reporting your compliance officer needs. The Prop Firm CRM handles challenges, consistency and drawdown rules, funded accounts and payout approvals.
It is fully managed. We host it, patch it, watch the feed and answer your operations desk. Once your firm's licensing and paperwork are in place, the stack is live within 24 hours, branded as your firm rather than as a rebadged third-party terminal. Firms coming off a legacy white label usually read white label forex brokerage and the three portals a broker runs first.
SINGUARD has no Hong Kong office, entity, licence or local staff, and never holds client money. We build and operate software for firms established in Hong Kong. Everything regulated belongs to your firm.
Payments and banking for a Hong Kong firm
Bank onboarding in Hong Kong is thorough, slow and often the longest item on a new firm's critical path. Firms plan for months of account opening, and many run an EMI or a regional processor in parallel so that deposits can start while the bank file completes. The Hong Kong dollar peg removes one currency headache and the local instant transfer rail is fast for domestic clients, but a broker with clients across Southeast Asia is still juggling several currencies, card issuers with very different approval behaviour and a strong local appetite for stablecoin settlement. Read banking for trading firms, crypto payments for trading firms and card approval rates before you sign anything.
In the CRM each rail is a configured method with its own approval queue, limits, fees and reconciliation view. SINGUARD is not a bank, a payment institution or a custodian, and client funds never pass through our systems.
Clients, languages and the trading day
| Local reality | How the software handles it |
|---|---|
| HKT, eight hours ahead of London | Daily cut-offs, statements and reporting set to your own trading day |
| Traditional Chinese and English clients | Portal, apps and emails per client language from one back office |
| USD pegged local currency | Account currency handled per account, fees converted when booked |
| Regional client base | Per-server instruments, leverage tiers and payment methods by segment |
Support here is usually staffed for the Asian day with a thin evening shift covering the London open, and a Cantonese, Mandarin and English rota. The platform does not change between those groups; only the configuration does.
How firms here usually structure themselves
The typical shape is a Hong Kong operating company with responsible officers and compliance in the city, trading technology bought as a managed service, and marketing and support run regionally. Firms comparing Asian hubs weigh Hong Kong against Singapore, and firms that also want a European entity look at Malta. Every market we cover is listed on the locations page.
SINGUARD's Executive Directors, Alex Onta & Roman Onta, take these calls directly. Alex Onta built eTrader with Roman Onta on the design and leads it, and the two of them built the Broker CRM and the Prop Firm CRM together. Book a call or text us and we will run the live demo before contracts come up.
Where SINGUARD is based, and where we meet firms in Hong Kong
All of the software, the contracts and the policies come from SGHK Softwares Limited in Hong Kong, the holding company that builds and licenses eTrader and both CRMs. The team works out of Dubai, where both Executive Directors, Alex Onta and Roman Onta, live for most of the year, and our licensed UAE entity is SINGUARD GLOBAL FZC in Ajman Free Zone. We hold no office or licence in Hong Kong, and none is needed: the platform is delivered and managed from our own clustered servers, so a firm in Hong Kong runs exactly what a firm anywhere else runs, and your licence, your client money and your compliance obligations stay entirely with your own entity.
Being in Dubai keeps the team on the industry circuit and within easy reach of Hong Kong for calls and meetings, in a time zone that overlaps most of the trading world.
In person, the place to find us is the industry circuit. The team attends Forex Expo Dubai and the other major shows, wearing the SINGUARD and eTrader shirts, and you can walk up without an appointment, ask for a live demo of the terminal and both CRMs, and talk to the Executive Directors directly in English, Italian, Romanian or Russian. See where to find us at the expo.
