SINGUARD in Cyprus

Broker and prop firm software for Cyprus firms.

Limassol has been the operational centre of European retail brokerage for two decades, and the technology decisions made there set the pattern for everyone else. SINGUARD supplies the eTrader platform with its own data feed, the Broker CRM and the Prop Firm CRM, fully managed.

Walk the Limassol seafront and you can list a dozen brokerages inside a kilometre. That density is why the island is where platform vendors get judged hardest. Everybody has already used three CRMs, everybody knows what a bad bridge does to a Monday morning, and nobody is impressed by a feature list. The questions we get from Cyprus are specific: how are reports exported, what happens at rollover, who is on the phone at 2am when the feed hiccups.

SINGUARD builds and runs three things: the eTrader trading platform with its own market data feed, the Broker CRM and the Prop Firm CRM. We are a software company and nothing more. Your firm holds the licence, the client money and every compliance obligation attached to them.

Who this is for

Cyprus splits neatly into two client types for us. The first is a Cyprus Investment Firm with an existing book, usually unhappy with a legacy CRM it inherited and paying a platform licence that has crept up every renewal. The second is a prop firm, often founded by people who came out of a Limassol brokerage and wanted a business with no client money and a faster launch. Prop firms in Cyprus have grown quickly and the regulatory conversation around them is still moving, which we cover in prop firm regulation and the MiFID question for prop firms.

The regulatory backdrop

CySEC, the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission, authorises and supervises Cyprus Investment Firms under the EU MiFID II framework. That brings conduct rules, capital requirements, client money handling, best execution obligations and transaction reporting, and it brings ESMA's product intervention measures on retail CFDs, including the leverage caps and the marketing restrictions. Our CySEC licence explainer and the ESMA leverage caps set out the mechanics.

All of that is description. We give no regulatory advice, we do not assess whether your model needs a licence, and we never speak to CySEC on your behalf. What the regime does change is the software specification: category-aware leverage, negative balance protection handled at account level, appropriateness test records held against the client file, and a reporting export that a compliance officer can hand over without a week of manual cleanup.

SINGUARD has no office, entity, licence, registration or staff in Cyprus. We are a software vendor serving firms on the island and the team travels there for industry events. Licensing, client funds and compliance stay with your firm.

What the platform covers

eTrader is a web and mobile terminal with charting, order entry, alerts and the data feed included. The Broker CRM covers onboarding and KYC review, client categorisation, account groups, per instrument spread and swap markup, deposits, withdrawal approvals with a queue and an audit trail, affiliate tracking and an internal exposure view. The Prop Firm CRM covers challenge configuration, the rules engine that evaluates drawdown and consistency breaches, certificates, leaderboards and payout approval.

Hosting and maintenance are ours. After your licensing and paperwork are complete we go live within 24 hours, branded to your domain. If you are migrating, the honest constraint is data quality on the way out of the old system rather than anything on our side; CRM migration covers what that usually involves.

Payments and banking on the island

Cyprus firms sit inside SEPA, which makes euro transfers cheap and same day for European clients and removes most of the friction that Gulf and African firms live with. The difficulty shows up elsewhere: card acquiring for CFD business is still specialist underwriting, chargeback ratios are watched closely, and clients outside the EU need rails that SEPA does not reach. Most firms here run a bank account plus a specialist acquirer plus one or two e-wallets. SEPA versus SWIFT and how chargebacks work are the two pieces founders here read most.

Both CRMs run multiple processors side by side with routing rules per corridor and reconcile into one ledger. Withdrawals go through an approval queue that records who released what and when, which is the first thing an auditor asks to see.

Languages, staffing and hours

A Limassol desk serves Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and the CIS from one floor, so the portal needs more than English. Greek, Russian, Spanish, Italian, German, Polish and Arabic all show up in client books here, and a portal that half translates is worse than one that does not try. Support runs on Eastern European Time, two hours ahead of London, which puts the desk in front of the London open and still in the office for the first hours of New York. Firms typically staff sales and support locally, keep compliance in house because CySEC expects it, and outsource technology, which is where we come in.

Where to start

If you are applying for a CIF licence now, talk to us early so the platform is ready when the permission arrives rather than after. If you already trade and are looking at a replacement, ask for both CRMs live and push on the parts that broke last time. Alex Onta built eTrader with Roman Onta on the design and leads it; Alex Onta and Roman Onta built the Broker CRM and the Prop Firm CRM together and take the compliance, payments and structuring questions between them.

Related markets: London for firms with a UK entity post-Brexit, and Dubai for the Gulf-facing side of a European group. The rest are on our locations page.

Where SINGUARD is based, and where we meet firms in Cyprus

All of the software, the contracts and the policies come from SGHK Softwares Limited in Hong Kong, the holding company that builds and licenses eTrader and both CRMs. The team works out of Dubai, where both Executive Directors, Alex Onta and Roman Onta, live for most of the year, and our licensed UAE entity is SINGUARD GLOBAL FZC in Ajman Free Zone. We hold no office or licence in Cyprus, and none is needed: the platform is delivered and managed from our own clustered servers, so a firm in Cyprus runs exactly what a firm anywhere else runs, and your licence, your client money and your compliance obligations stay entirely with your own entity.

Being in Dubai keeps the team on the industry circuit and within easy reach of Cyprus for calls and meetings, in a time zone that overlaps most of the trading world.

In person, the place to find us is the industry circuit. The team attends Forex Expo Dubai and the other major shows, wearing the SINGUARD and eTrader shirts, and you can walk up without an appointment, ask for a live demo of the terminal and both CRMs, and talk to the Executive Directors directly in English, Italian, Romanian or Russian. See where to find us at the expo.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does SINGUARD have an office or licence in Cyprus?

No. SINGUARD holds no office, entity, licence, registration or staff in Cyprus. We are a software company serving firms based there, and the team attends industry events on the island. Your CySEC permissions and your compliance obligations are entirely yours.

What does CySEC regulate for a firm in Cyprus?

CySEC authorises and supervises Cyprus Investment Firms under the EU MiFID II framework, covering conduct, capital, client money handling and reporting. Whether your intended business needs a CIF licence is a question for your own legal advisers, not for a software vendor.

Can the Broker CRM handle MiFID II style client categorisation in Cyprus?

Yes. The CRM supports client categories, appropriateness test records, per category leverage settings and a full audit trail of onboarding decisions. How you apply those settings is your firm's regulatory judgement.

How quickly can a Cyprus firm launch on SINGUARD?

Once your licensing, banking and paperwork are done, the platform and CRM go live within 24 hours under your own brand and domain. The CySEC side of the timetable is outside our control and we make no claims about it.
